Big Sky Pro Racing Association (BSPRA) held their championship races at Spokane Raceway Park on Saturday, September 8th. Chuck Swope won the championship main event, which was his first win racing with BSPRA, and lead him into a third place finish in the points race. Jarred Burland came into the night with a one point lead over Dan Krahn, after the trophy dashes and heat they were tied, but at the end of the night Jarred ended two points ahead to win the championship for the year.

Ten cars made the trip to Spokane for the championship night, and in a first for the Pro-stocks, all ten cars started and finished the main event. The night went off without a hitch, as every race went green, white, checkered, without a caution flag or any mechanical problems during any of the races.

Dan Krahn took fast time of the night with a 20.977 on the half mile oval. Trophy dashes   ran first with a fast and slow dash lined up by time ins. Jarred Burland was able to hold off Krahn during the first trophy dash, which gained him one more point over Krahn in the points race. Carl Nordberg drove for the first time this year and lead most of Dash B. Wade Shepard was able to pass Nordberg on the last lap to get the trophy.

All ten cars lined up for the 8 lap heat race. Brad Lee was running well, and led all 8 laps. Krahn worked his way up to finish second with Jarred Burland finishing third. With Krahn finishing ahead of Burland, he tied up the point’s race. Bill Moore started his first ever race, and was able to race his line and had no problems for the night.

The main event lined up with everyone watching Krahn and Burland, for whoever finished ahead of the other would be the 2007 BSPRA champion. Swope got to the lead after a few laps, and lead the rest of the way to take the win. It looked like Krahn was going to run better than Burland, as he was a couple cars ahead through the first 13 laps. As the leaders came up to lapped traffic, Tracy Burland and Jarred Burland were able to get around on the outside, while Krahn got caught behind the lapped car and lost position. Tracy was able to stay ahead of Jarred to finish second to Swope, with Jarred third and Krahn in fourth. This finish lead Jarred Burland to a two point advantage over Krahn to become the class Champion.

BSPRA would like to thank all their sponsors and fans for the support throughout the season. Their next event will be hosting the Montana Flat Track Racing with their Outlaw Cart Race which will be held at Polson Fairgrounds on September 22. This will be the Outlaw Carts’ Championship night with a King of the Polson Fairgrounds being decided based on the best competitor from the two races hosted in Polson.
