  May 12th, 2004 Meeting Minutes

Present: Guy Stinger, Tracy Burland, Brad Lee, Wade Shepard, Traci Shepard, Ronnie Burland, Shirley Burland, Carrie Benson

Guy called the meeting to order at 7:05.

Lisa called and said that she can’t make it. Chuck Morigeau also can’t make it.

Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.

Brad gave the financial statement:

$2641.05 currently in checking

$3200. in accounts receivable

$7125 currently in memberships and sponsorship

Duane got the ramps done. Duane Olsen Trucking is sponsoring them at $250. Scales are also here.

Equipment van decals are done. Danny will put Ephrata and Calgary decals on the windows.

Lisa is working on the rulebook. They are printing a page with the logo on the front and the sponsors on the back that can be folded around the inside content pages.

Gull Printing is making posters. Tracy will talk with them to see how they are coming.

Total number of sponsors is now 33. Total amount sponsored, cash and goods, stands at $22,400.

Calgary purse is at $2,400.

Discussion was held on the sponsor placement on the cars. Between Danny and Gull Printing, they have most of the decals ready and just need to get them placed on a car.

Discussion was held on the Polson Tourism Booklets and the Friendship Trail. The Leader is doing an overrun of 2000 booklets at a sponsorship of $5,500. We will be able to take these to Canada about a month before the race for promotion. Businesses can sponsor the trip to hand out booklets at $50-$100. If there is left over money from the trip, it will be added to the purse. Businesses can also include coupons and discounts to encourage tourism through the friendship trail.

Discussion was held on rookie drivers. Concern was to keep the class competitive and safe. Possibilities discussed were having a minimum lap time or a certain amount of lap time.

Tech Day: Tracy talked with the business owners at the Creamery Mall about the May 22nd date and they all approved it. Stageline stated that they will sponsor pizza and pop for the day. Other businesses may have coupons to give out. The Radio station will do a 1/2 hour live plug. Time was set as 1:00 PM. Danny will try and have a board with logo on it to set out front.

May 28th is the Ace Customer Appreciation Days. They want a few cars there on display.

Tires: Tracy was able to get a direct factory link with American Racer. Tires will be $75-freight included- one week out. They stated that they would like at least a 20-25 tire order. With racers contacted so far, we would need around 20 tires Their jackets are $45, Tracy is purchasing one and the possibility of using them for different class awards was discussed. Wade made a motion to buy 25 tires total. Passed unanimously. The club will have approximately 5 extra tires for purchase throughout the year.

Main Event laps: Discussion was held to have a minimum number of laps, because of the travel and to put on a good show. Brad moved to have either a 40 lap main, or 3 laps per car, which ever is greater. Motion passed unanimously. Need to change this in the rule book.

Kalispell track time: Would like to get at least 5 cars to go to Kalispell on a Wednesday during their hot lapping time to show them what BSPRA is about.  If they like the class, may be able to be put in the schedule as a filler class, or when a night is short.  Discussion was held on the Limited Sportsman class and the possibility of racing together.

Media van will not be able to go to Ephrata- having trouble getting it titled. The college is sending camera’s to film with, but Walter will have to edit the film at the college.

Next meeting is May 26th at 7:00 PM at Plum Creek.

Wade motioned for adjournment at 7:45 PM.
