BSPRA meeting minutes
March 22, 2007
Meeting
called to order by Guy Stinger at 7:15.
Also present were Lisa Stinger, Courtney
Stinger, Wade Shepard, Traci Shepard, Tracy
Burland, Brad Lee, Butch VanTassel, and
Duane Olsen.
Minutes and
Financial report were read and approved.
Tracy
reported on his meeting with Don Staggs of
MVAR. There had been questions asked about
why certain rules and procedures were in
effect. It was explained that in the signed
agreement with them, we had the
responsibility of writing and enforcing the
rules. These are pretty much the rules we
use to govern our organization, we think
they are fair and equitable, and so we
wrote them up that way for the joint race.
It was also explained that there is no
mandatory participation for anyone of
either group and no points will be scored
toward the regular season total. As for the
concern that has been mentioned around the
area that some people won’t be allowed to
race, that may be so, but no one has come
to a meeting to fill out an application to
find out. Don was reminded that there are
also people who are not allowed to race
with MVAR due to past actions. We feel that
this is a similar situation.
Duane
reported on what he had learned so far on
the PA system at Plains Fairgrounds. The
system that was used last year was rented
from a party for $800. The Fair Board is
going to purchase a new system of there own
at a total cost of about $8000, and the
rented one would probably be available to
rent here for the Sprint Kart races. We
felt that this was too expensive for a one
night show, so Duane will find out if that
was for the entire run of the fair or just
one night. Also he will try to find out the
brand name of the system, as Dennis
Andersen has indicated that he would like
to do something to put a permanent one at
the Polson Fairgrounds.
In talking to
the manager of the Plains arena, he asked
what we would be using it for. It was
explained that it would be for a sprint
kart race. He then said that they have a
slow time on Saturday afternoon, and
wondered if the kart racers would consider
racing there at that time. Tracy will talk
to the head of the kart racers to see if
they are interested, and if so, maybe we
can promote an event there.
Duane will
talk to a local hay dealer/hauler to see if
he knows of any small square bales that
would be available.
Wade said
that the ride-along car is ready for the
engine and transmission. It was decided to
take it to Tracy’s to install it, and then
take it back to Wade’s.
So far, 50
pre-sold tickets have been spoken for, and
we haven’t heard from other groups whether
to do it or not. Also at least 2 businesses
are going to buy the corporate package.
A few vendors
have been contacted for the kart race, and
agreements will be made shortly.
Lisa brought
copies of the kart poster to look at. A few
changes were made, and then we decided to
print some.
Duane will
check on the gear ratio in a C-4 Ford
transmission to see if we have rear gears
available to run 2nd gear.
Meeting
adjourned at 8:45.
