Shepard, Wade Shepard, Brad Lee, Tracy Burland, Guy
Stinger, Lisa Stinger, Walter Simon, Josh Burland,
Carrie Benson, Jerry Taber, Dan Krahn
Guy called the
meeting to order at 7:10.
Brad gave the
financial report. Checking account balance: $1289.55,
$3595 in accounts receivable. Assets include $225 worth
of tires with total assets or $6111.50
Bills to be paid
include $50 to Polson Chamber, $15 to the Secretary of
State (for corporation) $245.66 to Specialty Tires (for
jackets, already paid by members and in checking
account). Brad motioned to approve the bills and pay
them. Lisa seconded the motion. Motion passed
unanimously.
Tracy attended the
PFI meeting last night. They approved the cart
race/swap meet/car show for April 23rd. Fees
include $350 to have the arena and use of all grounds.
$50 if we use the lights, $50 to re-winterize the
bathrooms afterward. They also want a $2000 check that
they will hold to guarantee that the arena and clean-up
is satisfactory, and if it is then we will get the
check back. The Carts have done races at the Missoula
Fairgrounds and will help with getting the arena back
to normal, and Missoula said that they do a very good
job. They approved camping for the participants, we
will need to come up with a sticker or window tag to
show who is allowed to camp and will have to monitor
this. We will have to provide general liability
insurance. Tracy has checked with a couple of places
for this: Bishop special event insurance is $650 if we
sold alcohol it would be more. JBA is $1224 per event
which covers fans and racers; we would probably use
them if we need insurance for events at MVS. The Outlaw
Carts have their own insurance. Tracy has a meeting
with Zip Beverage will talk with them about having
exclusive at race and see if they will help with the
sponsorship. Napa is also interested in possible
sponsorship for the Carts. A month before the swap
meet, will get all members, along with PFI and Outlaw
carts to meet at the fairgrounds to go through the
layout. Will try to get at least $2000 purse. Wade
motioned to go ahead with the event. Josh seconded the
motion. Motion passed unanimously. Promotion for the
event would include going on NBC news with Monty
Turner, Dennis Anderson has told Tracy that he could
come in to the radio station once a week.
NBC has local
advertising during the NASCAR season that would be $600
($100+ per spot) where we could pick the dates and have
a BSPRA commercial during the race when NASCAR is
running on NBC.
Have information on
carburetor gauges for $209. Duane would like to see us
purchase them as it would be another way to tech the
cars. Wade feels that it is a board decision. Tracy
motioned to buy them. Guy seconded. Motion passed
unanimously.
Polson Chamber
sponsored $300
Gary McGraw is
interested in having the Valley Cruisers travel with us
up to Calgary.
Confirmed Race
Dates:
April 23
Outlaw Carts/Swap Meet/ Car Show with the Valley
Cruisers
May 21 Ephrata, Wa
June 18 Pinticton, Canada
July 30 Calgary, Canada
The Miller Spring
challenge is the same weekend as Calgary. Tracy has
talked with Lou, from a group in Canada, who may be
interested in joining us. The miller springs maybe
changing some rules to allow late models. Their group
has 5 cars. To pass tech talked about seeing if any
members could go over a day before the race.
Tracy has gone to
the recent meetings with Tribal Council. They will work
with us depending on MVAR answer requesting race dates.
We are waiting for either a yes or no from MVAR. The
tribal council would lease the facilities for $300/
event. Council would want proof of insurance. If MVAR
won’t give us any dates then we would sub-lease the
track on Friday nights.
In letter to MVAR
requested a reply in 15 days. It was suggested that a
representative go to their next meeting, Monday 2-7,
asking for a reply of yes/no but don’t need confirmed
dates right away. Dan and Jerry have questions that
they would like to understand better to help the
negotiations. Would we accept $85 instead of $100 per
car; Tracy has talked with all the drivers and they
have agreed to this. Would we be willing to race the
jamboree; thought that this would be a ‘good will’
jester but also concern that they wouldn’t ask any
other traveling specialty class to race for no pay. It
was brought up that if we did race the jamboree it
would be without pay but would be for points. We will
discuss this more after we get any type of answer. They
were also wondering if our flagman would stay in the
stand all night and help; Guy said that he wouldn’t
mind this. Also discussed whether it could be
considered the same event (for insurance) if ran on two
nights. It is only considered the same event if the
same classes run on both nights. Tracy has a copy of
the events agreement to show MVAR that would be a
contract between BSPRA and tracks racing at.
Dan Krahn has
submitted application for membership. Lisa motioned to
accept. Wade seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Next meeting will
be Thursday February 10 at 7 p.m., Plum Creek. All
drivers should attend to discuss response from MVAR.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 |
