Guy called the meeting to order at
7:15.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
Brad gave the financial statement: didn’t have full
statement printout available, only activity is a check
written for $209.00 for the Carb Gauges which Tracy
reported should be here at the end of next week.
Discussion continued on the Swap
Meet: Can get together with PFI at any time to get the
layout done for the swap meet, car show, and race. A
tentative date was set for Saturday March 26th
meeting at the fairgrounds. We will need to check with
PFI and the Outlaws to confirm this date. There have
been 5 booths already sold for the car show. Brad has
had some bike racers approach him about flat track
racing at the fairgrounds. Tracy will talk with Sean
from the Outlaws about this possibility, but they also
have some riders that are with their show. It was
discussed that PFI has had some troubles with bike
races in the past and that they may not be receptive to
this at this time, and until we prove that we will
restore the conditions of the grounds, maybe it would
be better to wait. Sean is setting up the Outlaw show.
They will take the pit money; they try to keep it at
the car plus 2 people so that other fans will be coming
in the gate to the stands.
The Valley Cruisers have contacted
various clubs about the show. It was agreed that there
is no charge at the gate to display their car but
limited to 2 wrist bands per car, extra would have to
pay.
Prices for the Swap Meet were
discussed: Booth price: $35, Gate for swap meet: $2,
Race Gate: $5, 6 and under free. Beer booth: $2 per
beer $5 for three. Brad motioned to accept these
prices. Traci seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
BSPRA members will run the beer booth. It was discussed
that could set it and one end of the grandstands so
that can also watch the races and to help block off the
entrance to the stands so that people can’t get in
without paying. We will also have 50/50 throughout the
day. Everyone agrees that will rent out booths for
concessions instead of having any ourselves, possibly
placing these at the other end of the grandstands so
that people could access them during the race.
Jack Cross will donate $1000 worth
of fireworks and $300 toward the swap meet. Jack Bishop
will help design the poster, Walter is also working on
a name and picture for the poster.
Tracy still to meet with Napa
about sponsorship for the $2000 purse. Tracy met with
Budweiser, they donated: $500 cash to purse and $200 to
the swap meet posters. They will supply all banners and
donated to BSPRA a $150 jacket to use for a year-end
position and $200 toward schedule posters. It was
decided to sell Budweiser exclusively. The radio has
offered spots to promote for 3 to 4 weeks beforehand
and can bring in live guests. Tracy suggested someone
representing Outlaw Carts, Valley Cruisers, and PFI.
Talked about getting locals to do
a couple of races in the carts with the possibly a race
of champions or some of the old dirt racers. Jarred
suggested having the crowd get involved by picking the
racers.
There is a group of racers from
Pinticton that want to join BSPRA. It was decided that
as many members that could go would drive there to
inspect the cars about a month before the first race
(Ephrata). They know that they must make 90% of the
races in order to get their end-of-the-year checks. If
they were pre-inspected, they could buy their
memberships at Ephrata. Tracy will call them and set up
a date.
Letter was presented to MVAR at
their last meeting on Monday, stating that we needed a
yes/no answer and that anything but a yes would be
taken as a no and we would be pursuing other options.
Proposal was turned down and we have received a letter
signed by Ron Petersen stating this. Shawn Blixt has
questions that were discussed regarding cars,
membership, race pay, and how we would run our race
night, etc. Questions were asked and answered. He has a
couple of dates that may work: May 7th
(jamboree), July 9th, September 17th,
with September 10th as another possibility.
He stated that they have not voted a yes/no at any
meeting. He stated that would pay for non-member back
gate which he thought was $40 but we had been told $30
and asked if $85 per car which everyone had previously
agreed upon but if pay is $85 then back gate at $30. He
was told that if the Canadians end up coming down, they
would need more money for the travel. It was also
discussed that other track agreements is to $125 if
there are more than 12 cars. The May 7th
date is jamboree and would be for no pay.
Discussion on getting approval to
race on Fridays: Tracy has written a letter to Tribal
Council stating that we were turned down by MVAR and
would like to pursue racing on Friday. We are on the
agenda for the next tribal council meeting which is on
Tuesday. Even if it was approved, we wouldn’t have to
do this if we got dates with MVAR. MVAR next meeting is
Monday and if we do get notice that they did approve us
racing there, we will tell tribal council this and not
have to get approval. Lisa motioned to follow through
with sub-leasing. Wade seconded. Discussion on the
motion: we will not be locking into any dates by
getting approved so that we could not have Fridays if
they put us on Saturdays. Valley Cruisers asked if
BSPRA would do a sub-lease on a Sunday during their car
show so they could have a flame competition, burn-out,
demo derby. It was decided to wait until getting
answers from both MVAR and the tribe. The feeling was
that the Cruisers should persue their own sub-lease as
it would be on a different night than what we want, and
we don’t want to run the track. Motion was passed.
Carrie will send out letters
regarding 2005 memberships.
Next meeting will be February 17th,
Plum Creek, 7 p.m.
Lisa motioned to adjourn at 8:50 p.m. |
