Tracy, Walter, Guy and Lisa reported on the
Promoters’ meeting. We are on track with all of the
topics that they were discussing as major issues for
most tracks and groups. Items discussed:
Importance of having set rules in keeping car
count up, and therefore more people in the crowd with
tight racing. They discussed how the people with the
money get the rules changed to suit them, and other
racers can’t keep up so the car count decreases.
Organization: Have show ready and keep it moving.
Have someone watch the crowd to see when people are
getting bored and not paying attention to the race,
and when people start leaving to know when the night
has been to long. No one like a run away race, if
getting bad, can through a yellow to bunch back up.
Was suggested to have health records on hand for
all the racers incase of something happening during a
race. Could give to the emergency services upon
arrival.
Laps: was said that a 40 lap main may be to much,
most tracks said that 35 laps is a long race. Some
tracks have gone to a option of either 35 laps or 35
minutes, whichever ends first. This keeps you on time
and the night moving. Would do the same with heats
also (15 laps/15 minutes).
Show: Was suggested to have something going all
the time and work through intermissions. Can have
give-aways, mascot, burn out, etc. When giving away
money to kids like we did last year, they usually
will spend this money at the track.
Bio’s on the drivers to give out, especially on a
traveling class.
Receiver radios: Tran receiver radios have been
used to clean up the driving in the legends when they
can have about 40 cars on the track.. They are one
way radios that only one person can transmit to the
drivers. Are used for line-ups, cautions, warnings.
Tracy would like everyone’s input on this. They would
be about $115 per receiver.
They had a talk about announcing and Walter
brought back the information to give to Lynn.
With traveling groups, the tracks would like to
see at least 14-16 cars.
They were able to visit with Witte’s about a date
for Ephrata. They said that a few of their guys are
pushing to adapt our rules. Chuck Minor has one car
done and is working on another. Ephrata contract is for
$100 per car on July 29th.
MVAR had us on for the week before the Ephrata date.
Tracy contacted Don and let him know that this wouldn’t
work. Don gave Tracy the dates of May 20th
and August 26th over the phone. These dates
are not under contract.
Tracy talked with owners at Port Angelus. They
offered a June 24th race date. This would be
the longest trip but it is all interstate. It’s a ¼
mile track with one sweeping turn and one tighter turn.
Lynn told Tracy that he liked the 5 race schedule
that we had this last year.
Canada had been tabled because of cost for
passports. It takes 8-12 weeks to get passport back.
Aggassi also showed interest at the promoters meeting.
Discussed subleasing options. Tracy would like the
Tribe to have an option for any group to be able
to sublease the track on nights that aren’t being
utilized otherwise.
Discussed getting a type of uniform for officials
and possibly pit men for next season.
Membership renewed: Shirley Burland and Walter
Simon.
Tracy talked with the radio station and he will give
a break for a holiday ad. Will include a thanks for
support and possibly list the drivers and officials
names. Will be a cost of $150. Wade motions to have
them do the ads at the cost of $150. Lisa seconded.
Motion passed unanimously.
Tracy Burland attended the Tribal Council meeting
and reports:
We are instructed by Confederated Salish and Kootnai
Tribal Council today that a meeting must be held
between Mission Valley Auto Racers and Big Sky Pro
Racing Association with appointed members of Tribal
Council present on or around January 1, 2006 for the
purpose of assigning track dates in the best interest
of all parties. We are advised that a tribal
representative will set up this meeting. We are
sincerely open to this prospect and look forward to
this important meeting.
Next meeting will be January 5th, 7 p.m.,
at Plum Creek.
Meeting adjourned at 8:25.
