Guy called the meeting to order at
7:05. Full financial statement was unavailable but Brad
reported that after the banquet there is approximately
$1300 in checking. They will ask Carol to email a
financial report.
Races for next year were
discussed. It was agreed that would try for 5-7 total
races, depending on travel: Kalispell 3-4, Ephrata 2,
Calgary 1-2, Pinticten 1. Tracy has contacted
Kalispell but has not heard back. It was agreed to ask
for 2-4 races on their schedule. Tracy stated that we
may need to have a sit-down meeting with them. Tracy
has also talked with Pinticten. They have a class with
32 registered cars which would have the possibility of
creating an American/Canadian series to go along with
the friendship trail. They have a big race each year
that the owner invited BSPRA to: $20,000 over 2 days.
Tracy talked with them about paying $125 per car to
come race once before then. They are located 25 miles
north of the border, north of Spokane, about the same
travel time as to Calgary. Tracy will talk with
Ephrata and Calgary at the promoters meeting.
There was a Friendship Trail
meeting today. Tracy explained BSPRA’s involvement. To
expand the friendship trail Polson Golf Course may have
a fall tournament; Polson Businesses will take Canadian
money for a “Canadian Days” weekend. BSPRA would try
and race in August again and would be able to hand out
information with lists of business participating.
Walter is working on promoting this. It was discussed
on the possibility of having 2 races in Calgary, Tracy
stated that it is easier to promote one race, and to
get the purse money.
Promoters meeting is November
19/20. Tracy will be going for sure. Walter wants to go
and have a table display showing what BSPRA was able to
accomplish this year. Lynn motioned to pay for motels
and promoters meeting. Lisa seconded. Motion passed
unanimously.
Discussion was held on ways for
the club to generate more money. Tourism grants are
available, like the one that MVS got for the sprints a
few years ago. This may be a possibility to get a purse
together for a series race in the future. Tracy
suggested a swap meet at the Polson Fairgrounds
sometime in the early spring. He has talked with some
businesses that would be interested in having a booth.
You can charge for booth rental and possibly a cover
charge. The president of the car club stated that they
would help out by having a show.
The radio station stated that they
like the discussions with Tracy and it was discussed
that he may go into the station the day before a
meeting to generate more interest and get more people
to the meetings.
Next meeting will be Thursday
November 11th, 7 p.m., Plum Creek. Lynn
motioned to adjourn at 7:50. |
